Ingredients
- 4-6 fresh rosemary sprigs
- 750mL vodka
- Two large clean bottles or jars
- Cheesecloth or other fine strainer
- Funnel
Instructions
- Thoroughly wash rosemary sprigs and pat dry.
- In a large clean bottle or jar, add prepared rosemary sprigs and vodka.
- After capping, swirl container gently.
- Store in a cool, dark place for approximately 3 to 4 days, swirling the container gently each day.
- Taste your vodka. Does have enough flavor? If so, you can continue. If not, steep another day or two and test again.
- Carefully remove the rosemary sprigs and discard them.
- Filter through cheesecloth into a clean bottle or jar and seal.
You can drink your vodka right away or store unused vodka tightly sealed in a cool, dark place for approximately one to two years without flavor being affected. Discard when the flavor starts to fade or tastes "off."
Variations of Rosemary-Infused Vodka
Rosemary vodka is elegant all on its own. However, museums never stop adding new and exciting art, so don't stop infusing just yet.
- Pair your rosemary vodka with soft fruit flavors. Toss in a clean, whole sliced apple or pear. For other fruits, add a cup of sliced apricots, grapes, or hulled and sliced strawberries.
- Give your vodka citrus flair by including two to three whole, sliced lemons or limes. You can include a single large, sliced grapefruit or orange, too.
- Walk the herbaceous side with one to two whole, peeled cloves of garlic or three to five parsley, sage, or thyme sprigs.
- Go floral and sweet by adding a half cup of honey simple syrup or three to four fresh, clean lavender sprigs.
- Experiment with a few unusual flavors by adding a cup of clean, sliced green beans or two to three cooked thick-cut bacon slices.
